What is Research Data Deposit (RDD)?
Research Data Deposit (RDD) is a comprehensive platform for medical researchers to file their research data and research records to help ensure the authenticity of their research projects.
Registration language
All registrations and submissions should be completed in English.
Free registration
Research Data Deposit (RDD) is a non-profit, medical research data recording platform. There is no charge for researchers to upload their research data onto RDD.
How does Research Data Deposit (RDD) ensure confidentiality of the research data?
Research Data Deposit (RDD) keeps the successfully deposited research data highly confidential. All data deposited in RDD is not used for any scientific purposes, e.g. scientific re-analysis or re-evaluation, etc. It is not accessible by any third party/persons, excluding those granted formal inspection rights (see below). Upon formal inspection, only related datasets are revealed to the authorized inspectors. Inspection by the legitimate authorities is conducted in accordance with the following regulations:
- Successful application for inspection from the administration, governmental offices, or institutions of the researchers who would be inspected.
- Successful application for inspection by the chief editor(s) of the journal that the research paper is published or to be published wherein the authenticity of the research is challenged by the public and/or the journal editor(s).
Who is responsible for the authenticity and integrity of the deposited research data?
Research Data Deposit (RDD) only provides a platform for researchers to deposit their original research datasetsand research records before publishing the corresponding research paper(s). It is the Principle Investigator (or corresponding author) to respond to the authenticity and integrity of the dataset and corresponding track records that are deposited on RDD.
What are the benefits of using Research Data Deposit (RDD)?
Research Data Deposit (RDD) allocates a Research Data Deposit number for each successfully deposited research data. Researchers can cite this RDD number as a sentence in the Methods section or a footnote in their manuscripts: “The authenticity of this article has been validated by uploading the key raw data onto the Research Data Deposit platform (www.researchdata.org.cn), with the approval RDD number as RDDXXXXXX”..
The public can search for general information (i.e. paper/project title, name, institution, Email of PI, and date) of the deposited research data by using the RDD number.
When should you upload your data onto Research Data Deposit (RDD)?
- For the authors from SYSUCC, you can upload research data before submitting your articles to any journal and write down the RDD number as a sentence in the Methods section or a footnote in your manuscripts as the following statement: “The authenticity of this article has been validated by uploading the key raw data onto the Research Data Deposit platform (www.researchdata.org.cn), with the approval RDD number as RDDXXXXXX”.
- For the authors submitting their manuscripts to the Chinese Journal of Cancer, you can upload your key raw data when your paper is undergoing revision (minor/major revision), and obtain a RDD number and write down it as a sentence in the Methods section or a footnote in your manuscript as the following statement: “The authenticity of this article has been validated by uploading the key raw data onto the Research Data Deposit platform (www.researchdata.org.cn), with the approval RDD number as RDDXXXXXX”..
The update for approved deposit data on RDD
According to the Requirement of RDD, it is not allowed to update/renew/modify the approved deposit data. For the conditions that authors may renew/update/modify (e.g., add experiment, variables, samples) the approved deposit data according to the reviewer’s comments, we strongly suggest authors to deposit the updated whole data to RDD to obtain the new RDD number, in order to ensure that the deposit data could fully support the results of manuscript.
A “Memo of Declaration” for reference
RDD automatically generates a “Memo of Declaration” as a reference for the successfully deposited dataset(s) and related records.
The “Memo of Declaration” will state:
(1)The general information of the successfully deposited dataset(s).
(2)The responsibility of the PI/corresponding author for authenticity and traceability of the successfully deposited data.
(3)The responsibility of RDD is to ensure the confidentiality of all successfully deposited datasets. Datasets will only be revealed following a successful application for inspection to the authorized persons only.
